Diamond P Ranch is located in Eastern Iowa close to the Mississippi River. The Powell family runs the farming operation in the small town of Blue Grass, Iowa.
The land has been in the family for over 100 years. The farm had seen several years with no livestock – only being used for crop ground and the fencing and pastures had fallen into disrepair. Scott took over the operation in 2004, added Kim in 2005 and started the Diamond P Ranch that spring. The ‘big bosses’, Owen, Cody, Levi, and Reed would soon arrive. The boys are a constant joy and hopefully will one day continue the family farm together. A good friend reminded us recently that the days are long, but the years are short!
Today we farm nearly 1,200 acres of owned and rented ground with the homestead sitting on nearly 200 acres on the edge of town. We have a growing registered Hereford  and commercial cattle herd, run a grain operation, offer hay sales, and are blessed to be doing all of this as a family. The boys keep us busy with a variety of livestock shows and sporting events. In May 2022 we learned that #4 is Type 1 Diabetic so that is another chapter in our story. The farm is a wonderful place to raise our boys and is a lifestyle that we all love!
