Frequently Asked Questions

Derrick first had this idea to connect local farms with consumers back in the crazy Covid times when food supply chains went haywire for a bit. It wasn’t until we all started talking in 2024 that we decided to try it out for real. Having freezer beef or produce direct from the farm has always been a part of how we feed our families. We wanted more people to experience the feeling of having connection with the food they eat and the people that provide it. Plus, it tastes so good and really helps farmers keep a greater share of their profits. It's a win-win.

Derrick and Kaycee run a dairy farm, and Sheri and Joel run a marketing company. We believe this is a big advantage for farmers. The Josi's know what it takes to farm, and the Schaap's know how to reach the people who don't. We understand both sides, so combining our experience gives us the ability to help farms tailor their website, social media, and emails to answer the questions consumers actually have when it comes to buying direct from a farmer.

Great question! We charge a straightforward annual membership to the site because we want to be able to promote local farms for the long run. Anyone can do it one time, but it takes a bit of funding to keep a site running, updating individual farm pages when things change, marketing the idea to consumers, and also providing marketing help for individual farms so they can grow their local customer bases.

Many sites are free to sign up, but often take up to 15% of every sale. We prefer straightforward pricing. The cost to join is a flat annual membership fee (it works out to about $42/mo) so farms can keep 100% of their sales, no matter how many they get.

Update My Farm Profile

Farms featured on the Go Find a Farmer website are already farm members. This means we've talked with them, and they've signed up to be listed on this site. We're adding farms all the time, so if there's a farm you know of that would be a good fit for Go Find a Farmer, feel free to send them a link to our website so we can add them to the searchable map.

No! We're excited to add farms and ranches from all over. If you sell direct to consumer, this site is for you.

Choice: For farms and ranches who just want more awareness for their operation.

We list your farm for one year, you get a guide (How to Nail Your Farm Story), and you get marketing help sent to your inbox regularly.

Prime: For farms and ranches who are looking to grow their marketing efforts to consumers.

Not only do you get awareness, but also marketing coaching with our team, and your farm will be highlighted on Go Find a Farmer socials and TDF Honest Farming.

Intensive: For farms and ranches who are looking to completely redo, or start, their marketing efforts to consumers.

You get all the benefits of Choice and Prime, along with 6 months of one-on-one coaching sessions, and a step-by-step marketing course we walk you through. Each month is focused on a different area: 1) Foundations, 2) Websites, 3) Email, 4) Social Media, 5) Videography, and 6) Photography.

Not at this time. We never rule anything out, but our main focus is working to raise awareness about family farms who sell direct to consumer, and how easy it can be to order from them.
